My third year as VBS director at our church has come to a close. It’s hard to believe that two years ago was my first year as a director of vacation bible school. I hadn’t ever even attended VBS as a child. I felt completely unprepared and worried about screwing something up. I only had an 18 month old at the time so I hadn’t even had a kiddo go through VBS. But everything turned out fine! Little Mister danced and enjoyed and, to this day, will still dance to the songs if we play them. So ...

Paper Roll Firework Art
It’s been a busy couple of weeks in our household. We potty trained, Little Miss is walking, we’ve planned Vacation Bible School, and we have started it. We have run from place to place, planning, executing, and organizing. We’ve had some late nights and some of them were pretty rough. What was absolutely amazing was the number of registrations and volunteers we’ve had for VBS. We have had a record number of sign ups - so many of them being within the last week. And luckily, we were blessed ...
Are you a Mary or Martha?
A story keeps creeping up in my life. It’s the story of Mary and Martha when Jesus came to visit. The story in Luke 10 describes a scene where Jesus and His followers come to the home of the sisters, Mary and Martha. Martha spends time cleaning, cooking, and trying to make the house ready for Jesus while Mary sits at the feet of Jesus, listening to Him preach. When Martha asks Jesus to tell Mary to help, He rebukes her, telling her that Mary has chosen the better path. Every time I hear or ...
Training for Potty-Training
Last week was a big week for us. First, Little Miss started walking. Unlike her brother who held onto one finger until he was completely steady on his feet and then almost never fell, Little Miss just keeps toppling over and then standing right back up and trying again. She definitely still likes to crawl - it’s just plain faster - but she is really starting to get steady on her feet. And then on Wednesday, we started one of Little Mister’s biggest milestones since walking - potty ...
Summer Activities Guide – Educational Activities
Summer can be daunting. I miss my kids when they are at school, but I can appreciate having that time already filled with activities for their learning. Even though, for me, it’s only two days a week, those are two days that I don’t have to worry about activities. I don’t have to worry about what they’re learning. I don’t have to worry about their development or whether I’m doing things that are challenging how they see the world. I have the confidence that they already have those things built ...
Healthy Summer Snacks – Flag Day Yogurt Bark
With the summer comes more time at home and with more time at home comes the constant sound of the fridge and pantry being opened by my little ones and the following words, “I’m hungry.” I am constantly on the look out for fun, easy, and healthy snacks for my kids. One thing that my kids both love is yogurt and fruit. What perfect timing that we went berry picking at the end of last week and got a whole bunch of blueberries? You can make this with almost any kind of fruit or fruity chunks ...
