This is my 100th post. I’ve started and restarted this post about 10 times trying to figure out what to write about. How should I celebrate making it to 100 posts? I just couldn’t decide. Should I write about everything I’ve learned in the past few months of blogging? Should I do a review of my favorite things as a hint to my husband as to how we could celebrate? Nothing seemed quite right. So instead, I’m going to tell you about the complete crazy town that was my past weekend. Get ready, ...

10 TED Talks for Kids
I’m going to be up front and state a truth about me: I’m not an avid TED talks watcher. I know lots of people who LOVE TED talks. My mom, for example, watches them all the time - or so it seems. She’ll occasionally send ones to me that she thinks I’ll enjoy or find some value in. I’ve watched some that I love. I’ve watched some that made me angry and I really disagreed with what the presenter was speaking about. But regardless of all of that, the truth is that each talk holds value for ...
Patience as a Parent

I get nervous that people are looking at me and thinking that I can’t handle my kids. I start to believe that people are judging me because my child doesn’t seem to listen to me and for some stupid reason, in my head, I equate this to not respecting me. This is hardly the ...
Vacation Spotlight – Outer Banks, NC

I exploration of a new place, the discovery of a new culture, the understanding that someone who may not look or act like you may share a whole host of things similar and be closer than it seems are all things that are important to me and I want them to be important to them. So needless to say, finding different places to explore is important. Hopefully, once the kids are a little older, we will do more international ...
Paper Roll Bird Feeders
Today was Earth Day. It’s a day when we are supposed to remember all of the wonderful things that this beautiful planet provides for us and make a conscientious effort to do more to protect it. Earth Day started in 1970 following calls for change after the Santa Barbara oil spill. Fun fact: Did you know that there is a tree planted by President Nixon on the White House lawn in honor of the first Earth Day? I’ve gone to the White House many times and never realized that. And if you really want ...
A Letter to My Little Miss
Time is filled with points that make you realize how quickly it is passing. Just this past weekend, the youngest of my nephews graduated from school. One of my other nephews graduates in May. They’re both taller than I, big guys that have the world in front of them and I’m so incredibly proud. They have big dreams and visions for their futures, and I know they have the persistence (and stubbornness - they come by it genetically) to achieve it all. This week is Little Miss’s first birthday. I ...
