Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.”Matthew 5:9 It is incredibly easy to want to become angry, to want to fight back, and to want revenge when someone has wronged us. When we feel wronged, we take things personally, we are afronted and need to stand up for ourselves. It is in our human nature. One of the most wonderful feelings in the world is when you allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with forgiveness and peace. It is much harder to be at peace rather ...

How to Make Sensory Bags
As I’ve mentioned before, Little Mister is a true tactile learner. He learns best when he’s moving around, holding onto things, and touching what he’s learning about. Sometimes it’s just a matter of holding onto something and he will focus better. So when I decided to make sensory bags with the kiddos, I knew it was going to be something that he would love. There are tons of ideas on sensory items on Pinterest. If you search them, a million different ways to make them will come up. There are ...
Blessed are the Meek
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”Matthew 5:5 This beatitude is, I will admit, one of my favorites. Not because I am meek by any definition of the word. Maybe it’s a little because it’s easy to remember and everyone seems to know it. But mostly because of the idea that someone who is quiet and gentle, submissive to God and His will, will gain peace and comfort. The idea of being meek can be particularly difficult for us as adults to understand in this world where we ...
Parenting with Respect
It happened tonight as the kids were cleaning up the playroom. I was folding laundry, walking between the laundry room and the kids’ bedrooms as I put clothes away. My husband was monitoring the kids in the playroom, guiding them when necessary. All of the sudden I heard Little Mister screech and Little Miss started crying. My immediate reaction was to shout, “Whoa!!” My husband, however, remained calm. He didn’t talk down to Little Mister. He didn’t scold him or rip the toy away just to give ...
Blessed are those Pure in Heart
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”Matthew 5:8 The second beatitude on our journey through the Easter story is not actually the second beatitude, but rather the fifth in the series as preached by Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount. So why this beatitude to reflect the next part of the story to Easter Sunday? With the first post in the series, we addressed the Passover meal shared between Jesus and his disciples. Perhaps when you shared the story with your little ones, ...
Intellectual Development with Books
Little Mister loves to read. He will pick out a book from the shelf in the playroom or his bedroom, bring it to me and sit in my lap. He helps turn the pages and, for some books, he even has memorized some of the pages and will read them as we arrive at that part. His favorite book right now is Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin. Not only is this book entertaining, but it explores concepts and asks questions that little ones can ponder, includes illustrations that enhance and ...
