Santa was a big part of my Christmas experience when I was little. One of my favorite Santa memories was the year I received my American Girl doll. It included a complicated arrangement by my parents to ensure the magic lived on in my beliefs that year.
We had temporarily moved to Australia for my dad’s work this particular year. We were there from November through the new year and, though we had celebrated some of our Christmas in Australia, I’d been told by my parents that they were certain that Santa had stopped by our house here in Texas. I believed them and had faith that the things Santa had brought me were waiting at home.
Now, according to my parents, there were some complicated steps taken when we came back home that included one parent being dropped off at home to arrange the gifts while the other made up some excuse as to why we couldn’t come home right away.
Being the gullible child that I was, I bought it. My belief in Santa wasn’t shaken. And when we finally arrived home, I was met by my American Girl doll. I received two American Girl dolls over the course of my childhood and both still hold a special place for me.
Christmas is a magical time filled with mystery and intrigue, a man who loves children and delivers gifts to all of them one night a year. One of the quintessential parts of these tradition is the letter to Santa.
I remember writing my letter to Santa every year, picking the very best things to include, making sure I didn’t seem too greedy or needy, and remembering to say please and thank you. There are several Christmas songs written as letters to Santa, from asking for front teeth, hippos, to a light blue 1954 convertible.
This year, check out the Santa Letter free printable so that your kiddo can have their very own Santa stationary! There are two versions – one that is lined if your child prefers to write a list of their wishes and one that has blank space for the kids that would like to draw a picture of their gift wish or just a picture for Santa to enjoy.
As your kids work their way through the toy stores and toy catalogs, they can include their wishes to Santa and make sure that, when Santa checks his list the second time, their name appears on the nice side!
